Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights

Due to this week’s severe weather and out of an abundance of caution for public safety, the 2026 Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights has been postponed from February 28 to Saturday, March 14, 2026. This decision was made collaboratively by the Borough of Seaside Heights, the law enforcement community, and Special Olympics New Jersey, with the safety of participants, volunteers, and spectators as the top priority.
New Event Date: Saturday, March 14, 2026
The Plunge will return with the same fun, high-energy atmosphere residents and visitors look forward to each year.
Can’t Attend on March 14? “Plunge Your Way”
If you’re unable to make the rescheduled event, you can still participate by taking part in “Plunge Your Way”—a creative, virtual-style plunge you can do from home, nearby, or anywhere you choose. Past participants have used water balloons, snow jumps, or buckets of cold water—so feel free to get creative, dress up, and celebrate the spirit of the Plunge. Participants are encouraged to share photos and/or video of their plunge experience.
Fundraising Deadline Extended
Good news for teams and individuals still fundraising: the deadline to meet minimum fundraising goals and qualify for incentives has been extended to March 14, 2026.
Incentive Item Shipping / Pickup
If you cannot attend on March 14, you may request that incentive item(s) be shipped to you. You may also arrange pickup at the Special Olympics New Jersey Sports Complex in Lawrenceville, NJ after the in-person plunge concludes.
