Voting and the PBA
Every element of a law enforcement officers’ career, from pay, pension, benefits, lawful authority and more, is controlled at some point by an elected official. What a politician has given you they can also take away. It is critical therefore that New Jersey State PBA members are registered to vote and engaged in every election to fight to protect the law enforcement profession.
In order to make an impact in the political process New Jersey State PBA members are required to be registered to vote in order to be members in Good Standing in the organization (see State PBA Bylaws: Article IV, Section 4).
This requirement exists to ensure that the State PBA can make a difference in local, State, county and federal elections. The power of an organization comes from the unity and focus of its members by engaging as one voice in the political process. When it comes to politics there is the Republican Party, the Democratic Party and the PBA Party. By being registered to vote and supporting candidates endorsed by the PBA you put your best interests, and that of your family and your brother and sister officers, first!
